Abbeyfield Greymouth

A last some progress to report.......

In July 2009 the Abbeyfield Greymouth Steering Committee became Abbeyfield Greymouth Incorporated. Three years of investigating the need for a House, finding a site and making enquiries about flooding, titles, zoning and obtaining a geotech report have now culminated in our being granted Resource Consent.

We are working on funding applications and building up the Society membership and have had strong support from our local District Council.  The DVD’s of the Auckland and Golden Bay Houses are useful tools which we take to show at community meetings as well as classes at the Polytech.  We refer people to this website to help explain our place in the New Zealand and world Abbeyfield movement.

If you are interested in our project please contact June Frankpitt at p.j.frankpitt@snap.net.nz or ring 03 762 6714.

Assessing the site

The front of the proposed site. A pleasant neighbourhood close to ammenities.

The rear of the site being investigated for its suitability. Once the steering group has confirmed an Abbeyfield house of around 600 square meters can be placed on the site development of a concept plan can be commissioned.

The site investigation - Sam Gosse under supervision from steering committee members Peter Frankpitt and Peter Moreton.
