Abbeyfield Masterton - the second Abbeyfield house developed in New Zealand
The house was developed by adding ten en suite studios to the old Vicarage at 30 Church Street Masterton. The original house was adapted to provide the communal kitchen, dining and lounge areas and the housekeepers residence, laundry, library and entrance. |
Abbeyfield Masterton is an example of what can be accomplished when Abbeyfield partners with the local community and funding agencies. The house was built as a community project by a group of volunteers who formed the Management and House Committees. These committees welcome the interest and participation of other organisations or individuals.

Abbeyfield Masterton provides quality accommodation at an affordable price because as a nonprofit voluntary Society it is able to keep management costs to a minimum. The illustration shows one of our first housekeepers, Margaret, overseeing lunch. |
The accommodation wings were built around a courtyard, making the most of the available sun and light. The local Abbeyfield Society maintains the property at a very high level.
Residents participate in management of the property through their membership of the house committee. |

Abbeyfield Masterton welcomes contributions or equipment, supplies or money towards furnishing and running the house, by your donation or offer of service.
