About this property
The
two storey house is very accessible and suitable for
wheelchair and walking frame users with lift access to the upper floor. It was specifically designed and built for us
and opened in 2006.
Each resident has their own studio room with full
ensuite bathroom for their exclusive use. Rooms are unfurnished, so residents
can bring their own furniture and items, making it their own home.
The 7 rooms on the ground floor have a small patio, and
the 4 rooms on the upper floor have views from their balconies over the
neighbourhood and towards Mt Albert.
Residents
share the dining and lounge areas and kitchen and laundry, and can be involved
with our gardens if they wish. There is also a shed for mobility scooters and limited
on-site car parking.
All rooms and communal areas have underfloor and other heating and the building
has modern fire safety and security systems throughout.
Abbeyfield house management
The house is managed by Abbeyfield Auckland Inc, a
registered NZ charity. Residents also participate in managing the house through
regular discussions and as members of the House Committee.
Our
dedicated and experienced volunteers help us provide quality rental
accommodation at an affordable cost. We have also received significant support
from Auckland Council, Housing New Zealand, ASB Community Trust, Nolan
Charitable Trust, Western Springs Rotary, and many others including our
