Abbeyfield is planning to construct a 12 resident Abbeyfield house in Greymouth
Lifestyle at Abbeyfield
Funding is sought to enable us to provide a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where residents will live with independence, companionship and security in a family style environment.

Type of accommodation
We will offer affordable, high quality living for people who want to be as self-reliant as possible without the worry of maintaining their own home so that you can enjoy peace of mind.
Eligibility
No capital charge
Any single or widowed person over 65 years of age who is able to care for their personal needs independently will be considered for residency.
Even if you have limited assets, if you meet the criteria for a Housing Accommodation Supplement or living alone allowance, the weekly charge will be affordable. Those with modest incomes or savings are also eligible for consideration as residents.
About this property
A start has been made on putting the road and services in place on land generously donated by the Greymouth District Council. We are actively seeking sources of grant funding to enable us to get our proposed build project underway. Once the development is complete, the house is financially sustainable.
An on-site house keeper will ensure that the house is warm, comfortable and safe and that the daily meals provided are varied, nutritious and enjoyable.
All studios will be en suite and all rooms are unfurnished, so you can bring your own furniture, truly making it a home from home. The house has been specifically designed for us. It will be very accessible as it is level throughout, suitable for wheelchair and walker frame users.
Abbeyfield house management
The property will be managed by Abbeyfield Greymouth Inc. a registered Charity. Each resident participates in the house management through their participation in the House Committee. The volunteer, non-profit management will enable us to provide quality accommodation at an affordable cost.
