We’re thrilled that Terry Foster,  who has played a leading role in the development of Abbeyfield in New Zealand, has been recognised in the prestigious Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards.

Terry is one of 10 semi-finalists in the Senior New Zealander of the Year category. He is described as a “community housing pioneer” whose expertise and diligence has been integral to Abbeyfield’s growth and helped provide comfortable, affordable shared housing for older people. Terry has been an influential leader in Abbeyfield for more than 16 years. He has been actively involved in the development of 5 Abbeyfield houses, contributing design and project management expertise on a voluntary basis. He has also held various governance roles, including chair of Abbeyfield Properties from 2013 to early 2021. In addition he has been actively involved in another community housing provider, the Housing Foundation.
