Houses open again to visitors

As of Thursday May 14, our Abbeyfield houses will open to visitors again but there will be restrictions to comply with the Covid-19 alert level two measures. Visitors will be restricted to residents’ family and friends, care providers, Abbeyfield committee members and authorised contractors. Visitors must avoid common areas and sign the house’s contact log for each visit. Residents may have only 2 visitors at a time in their studio – if they have more than 2 visitors they must meet outside.

Under alert level two residents are allowed to leave the house but should maintain a 2 metre distance from others when they go out. We are also encouraging residents to keep a record of where they go and who they meet. This is in case they or someone they come into contact with develops Covid-19 symptoms.

Our houses will be accepting new residents under alert level two, as long as they do not have Covid-19 symptoms or have not been in recent contact with anyone with symptoms. Residents will be asked a series of questions over the phone prior to moving.

Residents, staff and volunteers at our houses will continue to maintain their good hygiene protocols, including regular hand-washing and disinfecting of surfaces.
