Abbeyfield NZ Executive Officer Susan Jenkins talks about the growing need for more affordable accommodation for older people in this video clip created by Community Housing Aotearoa.

In the video Susan explains how an ageing population and decreasing rates of home ownership are highlighting the need for more housing options for older people. Abbeyfield is doing its best to meet that need, she says, but securing development capital to establish new Abbeyfield houses is proving a stumbling block. For example, a group has been working in Greymouth for 15 years to try to raise funds to establish an Abbeyfield house, but has struggled to get development capital to get the project off the ground.
