WWII medals presented
WWII veteran Keith Faulkner, a resident at Abbeyfield Motueka, was recently presented with replica war service medals at a surprise presentation.
Keith served in the British merchant navy but no longer had the medals he’d been awarded – the British 1939-45 War Service Medal and the Atlantic Star for service in Atlantic waters.
Clayton Ross, former Motueka RSA support advisor, discovered this when visiting a friend of Keith’s, so ordered replica replacements. He also ordered a replica of the 1939-45 Star for active service which Keith had never received but should have.
The 3 medals were duly presented to Keith so he had them in time for the Anzac Day dawn service in Motueka. Pictured left is Keith with Motueka RSA president Kyle Abbott.
