Abbeyfield features in radio programme

Bill McKay, a senior lecturer in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland, was full of praise for the Abbeyfield housing model when he spoke on Radio New Zealand’s Nine to Noon programme today.

He described it as “health and housing hand-in-hand” noting the health benefits that come from living in a warm comfortable home and eating nutritionally balanced meals. He also commented on the mental health benefits of living in the company of others.

Mr McKay has visited the Abbeyfield Auckland house and said he was impressed with its functional design and how it blended in with the neighbourhood. You can listen to the podcast here.
