Development of the new Abbeyfield house in Katikati is now under way. Abbeyfield Western Bay of Plenty chair Carole Parker says the milestone “marks a significant achievement after over five years of dedicated fundraising”. The house will cater for 14 residents and is expected to be completed in December. More than $800,000 has been raised through fundraising, donations and sponsorship, and a grant of more than $2.5 million from the Affordable Housing Fund enabled the project to get under way. Abbeyfield Western Bay of Plenty will manage the house and has started getting ready to identify and select residents.
