Abbeyfield Hawke’s Bay – planned development

An existing Abbeyfield house in Hornby, Christchurch

An Abbeyfield house for Hawke's Bay

Abbeyfield Hawkes Bay Incorporated has been set up by people in the Hawke’s Bay community, working with Abbeyfield New Zealand to establish an Abbeyfield house for 12-14 older people in the region.

There is a desperate need for an Abbeyfield house to cater for independent older people in the region. Homelessness, housing unaffordability, loneliness, isolation and lack of security are growing issues. More and more people are coming into retirement not owning their own home and reliant on increasingly expensive private rentals. Many are lonely and isolated, on a downward spiral to poor health and hospitalisation.

Abbeyfield offers a proven solution to these issues. An Abbeyfield house would provide an affordable, warm, comfortable home where residents can enjoy the company of others.

We welcome all support to establish this Abbeyfield house. Abbeyfield Hawkes Bay Inc. is collaborating with like-minded groups and individuals to identify suitable locations for a house, and fundraise for it.

We would like to acknowledge the support of The Kingdom Foundation, proudly managed by Perpetual Guardian.
