About this development
Abbeyfield Waimakariri is working with Abbeyfield New Zealand and the local community to establish an Abbeyfield house in Waimakariri.
Three Abbeyfield houses already operate successfully in the greater Christchurch area and a need has been identified for a house in the Waimakariri area. The house would cater for 12-14 independent older people, providing a warm comfortable home and companionship.
The Abbeyfield Waimakariri committee is focusing on looking for suitable sites, sourcing funding and building a group to support the development and go on to run the house.
We would like to connect with people and organisations who share our vision of providing affordable housing for older people, or who want to support our initiative. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved.
You can support us by shopping at the stall we have at the Church Street Market in Rangiora, held on the first Saturday of each month except January.
