Special Abbeyfield Champions Award presented

Congratulations to Robyn Thomson, the housekeeper at Abbeyfield Dunedin, who recently received an Abbeyfield Champions Award for going the extra mile to enhance the quality of life for residents.

Robyn has been housekeeper since November 2007, starting shortly after the Dunedin house opened. Abbeyfield Dunedin chairperson Alan Somerville says she has always made the well-being of residents her top priority, and been caring and compassionate. She has also regularly gone above and beyond what her role required, by organising outings for residents and encouraging social connections in and outside the house. Here is an article on her award, which appeared in The Star.

The Abbeyfield Champions Award is a special award to mark the 30th anniversary of Abbeyfield NZ and only two are being made nationally. The other award will be presented at the national conference in November.
